Forest Gardens
From 2009-2020 Chevrel Traher was living in a timber house near a forest village with Alan Green. At home in the verdant mountains of Yalova, Chevrel & Alan created their Forest Garden, a step in a journey towards sustainability. Forest Gardens are based on the natural relationships of plant communities. As well as edible plants, there are trees for firewood & other uses, focusing on native Turkish plants. Permaculture is an essential element of the management processes employed. Seeds and seed production is an ongoing project as well as a necessary resource.
In addition to growing their own fruit and vegetables on their smallholding, they also kept chickens, dogs & cats, and were running workshops and residential courses.
Striving towards a Sustainable lifestyle, living the dream, producing Herbs for Health, focusing on building up a collection of herbs and medicinal plants plus growing vegetables and soft fruit. Sharing with the environment, paying guests and volunteers - all were welcome! The project came to an end with the pandemic, and Chevrel and Alan have relocated to the Isle of Man.
